Hi! I’m Lauren.

Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, I graduated from Clark High School and moved straight to Boston to attend The Boston Conservatory at Berklee where I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Music degree in Vocal Performance. I then attended New York University where I received my Master’s of Music degree in Musical Theater. I studied under well known professor Patty Thom and Metropolitan Opera veteran Harolyn Blackwell.

Right after graduation, I booked my first professional show. Playing Maria in West Side Story. Over the next 6 years, I was lucky enough to work at the most prestigious theaters around the country such as Barrington Stage Company, North Shore Music Theatre, Westchester Broadway Theatre to name a few. I had the privilege of being in West Side Story five different times as well as The Buddy Holly Story, Man of La Mancha, On Your Feet and Evita. While in New York, I studied under Broadway voice teacher Mike Ruckles.

I moved back to my hometown in 2020 and decided to pursue a dream I always wanted to do; open my own theater. With the help of my husband, we founded San Antonio Broadway Theatre. Our mission is to help bridge the gap between the local theater community and the Broadway community. Each production we bring in Broadway professionals to fill our our local cast.

In the summer of 2023, I will be heading back to The Boston Conservatory to continue my training in Vocal Pedagogy attending their prestigious Vocal Pedagogy Professional Workshop.

In addition to producing, I founded Lauren Cosio Music Studio to teach and inspire the next generation of great artists.

ADVICE FOR AN ASPIRING ACTOR?

Sounds cliche, but be yourself. Only you have your special something to offer. Casting can tell if you are trying to be someone else! Work on what YOU need to work on.
