PHILOSOPHY
I have learned so much over the past few years teaching and professionally performing. I discovered each age group requires a different style of teaching. I pride myself off of making sure the student feels comfortable in the lesson first and foremost. I like to connect with the student over common likes and dislikes. My style of teaching is positive and encouraging. I find commonalities in their likes and relate to what we are learning. I always want my lessons to be positive and productive. In order to insure success, I like to give my students music that they are excited about! I find this is the best way for the student to WANT to practice and get better. I love what I do and it gives me so much joy and fulfillment to see a student succeed and love music as much as I do!
Being classically trained myself, I like to train my students in the same way. With a classical base training, a student can succeed in any style of music. I like to give the student a combination of a classical song and a current song they love. I have a background in Vocal Pedagogy (the study of the voice) so vocal health is extremely important to me. I make sure every sound coming out of the body is properly supported as to avoid any vocal injuries.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students succeed in whatever they are passionate about. Whether that be making their Broadway Debut or learning to love music as much as I do. I encourage my students to set realistic goals for themselves at each lesson. I like to make each lesson fun but productive. I like to find commonalities in what I am teaching to their everyday life. With my years of experience both on the stage and off, I know I can give you or your child the very best training one has to offer!
