THE LESSONS
Voice
—
For Intermediate to Advanced students by audition only. Level will be determined upon introductory lesson.
Voice lessons are weekly sessions focused on vocal technique to help increase your vocal range, build vocal strength, give you better ability to blend smoothly between vocal registers, achieve mixed voice and belt coordination, master many musical and vocal styles, sing high notes with ease, gain confidence for live performance, and eventually achieve technical and artistic mastery.
Your first lesson is an Introductory Lesson. Introductory lessons are not different from regular lessons in terms of the amount of vocal technique work that is accomplished. This first lesson is a chance for me to get to know you, your voice and your goals for our sessions.
I specialize in a classical technique training that can be used in any genre of singing.

FAQs
-
An initial trial lesson will help us determine if the match and timing are right for lessons. If it is not a match, I can recommend many other options.

My goal is to develop proper technique whether it be vocal lessons or piano lessons. For both practices we will work on exercises to establish coordination of muscles needed for health singing and playing. For vocal lessons, we will work on age/level appropriate song selections.
-
For vocal lessons, I highly recommend parents leaving the room for the lesson. Your student will have more freedom to become his/herself and an opportunity for me to bond with your student. For piano lessons, it is up to you and your student.

After 7 years of teaching, I have learned the importance of choosing the right voice teacher. I am trained in Vocal Pedagogy (the study of the voice) which is VERY important for voice teachers to learn. Unfortunately, MOST voice teachers are not trained in this practice leading to unhealthy singing. I ensure longevity for a healthy instrument. My students can sing a wide variety of styles as well as having the ability to sing in different vocal ranges. I am also a vocal coach helping students with acting within each song. Along with teaching, I also have many connections to the Broadway world and agencies if you student wants to perform professionally.

If your student would like to apply for a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance or Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater, I am here to help! We will first make a list of all the colleges the student is interested in & check their audition requirements. We will then carefully choose selections that will highlight the student to the highest. All prescreens are due in the fall of their senior year. I recommend prepping as early as first semester junior year to ensure success. I will help record the audition videos as well as recommend the best photographer for high quality headshots. Many of my students have been accepted to incredible programs over the years such as The Boston Conservatory at Berlkee, Manhattan School of Music, University of Michigan and many more!

Practicing is EXTREMELY important to you/your students success. If you or your student cannot commit to practice at least 3 times a week, lessons might not be right at this time.
